Overview
Day 1
R-X Diagram
- Basic elements of an R-X diagram
- How do we use it to represent load, line impendence, etc.
- How do we use this diagram to observe distance relay behavior using this diagram?
Distance Protection
- Basic principles
- Characteristics & operating principles of Mho and Quad
- Polarization for phase and ground distance
- Determination of directionality
- Step distance protection using distance relays
- Infeed effect
- Impact of arc resistance
- K-factor used in ground distance
- Expanding Mho characteristics
- Zone 1 acceleration
Differential Protection
- Vector compression
- Amplitude compensation
- Handling various transformer connections
- Harmonic restraint
- Zero sequence elimination for external faults
Day 2
Testing of differential relays
Day 3
- Testing of Sync. Check function
- Testing of a Reclosing function of a microprocessor relay
- Testing of a Breaker Failure Function
- Testing of a Negative Sequence overcurrent function
A brief description of operating principles these relays will also be presented followed by hands on testing of these relays using Doble relay test sets. Both manual and automated testing using a test plan will be used for training. A combined application course coupled with hands-on training.
This course/training is intended for the following audience:
- Senior and Junior level technicians who are involved with testing of electro-mechanical/microprocessor relays
- Technicians who wish to enhance their knowledge of moderately complex relays
- Technicians who wish to learn how automated testing is performed to test moderately complex.
This class will be hosted at 2200 Gateway Center BLVD Suite 207 Morrisville, NC 27560
