Connecting to Power System Asset and Test Data Conveniently
Convenience is Key
Engineering and field operations teams who maintain utility and industrial electrical systems are confronting new pressures daily in a rapidly changing power delivery landscape. Complexity in their jobs is increasing as critical infrastructure modernization comes online in the face of persistent cyberthreats and evolving compliance mandates. Easy access to information and keeping workers connected is more critical than ever before given the unprecedented challenges at play. But with the right tools and approach, power and utility teams will be equipped to navigate current and future dynamics with confidence.
This is where the new PowerBase™ Web Viewer fits in. This first feature release of Doble PowerBase in a web environment gives users browser-based access to power system asset data, including lifecycle engineering, testing, and maintenance records. Administrators, supervisors, engineers, and field technicians can all benefit from the convenience of anytime, anywhere information visibility and reporting.
All the Best of PowerBase
Understanding asset performance is critical, so it is equally as important to be able to track results from testing and maintenance activities in the same location as engineering data. But this comes as a challenge since testing and engineering data rarely translate seamlessly across systems, making it tricky to compile and analyze.
PowerBase overcomes issues of disparate data consolidation to give utility professionals a universal asset and test data management system with work assignment and reporting features. PowerBase handles the unique requirements of protective relay asset management and serves as a data backup for relay settings and RTS and Protection Suite test records. Additionally, PowerBase is highly configurable, and many customers use it as the central repository and data warehouse for tracking and reporting on asset and test data of multiple types of power system components, giving them enterprise monitoring and notification of status changes to device, settings, test, and work assignment data across the board.
The new Web Viewer replicates the user interface of the PowerBase application in a web version that supports popular browsers. The layout and navigation are the same but with enhancements owing to the new, visually appealing, sleek interface. PowerBase in a web environment gives users on-the-go access to critical features they need, such as their dashboards for keeping track of the data and communications that connect them with other team members.
Though the Web Viewer is primarily view-only, users can perform essential functions, like running and printing reports they’ve saved in the PowerBase desktop app. The same security and user permissions already setup in the desktop environment get recognized at login with the web app so that specific user functions, like the ability to approve or reject test results by supervisors or upload/download settings files by technicians and engineers, can still be performed and done so from the convenience of a web browser.
Going Beyond the Field
Professionals in the field need guaranteed, quick access to information to resolve issues faster. Supervisors need efficient approval and management of test results and more accurate and reliable maintenance data. The PowerBase Web Viewer extends tangible benefits that save time, money, and resources by giving workers the mission-critical information they need from PowerBase via a browser on their mobile device. Additionally, the Web Viewer is an excellent back up feature of the PowerBase system when logging into the desktop application isn’t possible. Whether in the field or after-hours, the Web Viewer is accessible from any location.
